Now I know why people don't like Dell. The "Server" we bought from them is nothing more than a workstation with server software on it. On top of than, when we tried to get the DSL connect to that network (the one that is for my dad's home business, all the computers are Dells), the network got all f'ed up. The computer guy that we hired has no idea what is wrong with it. Of his 20 some years working with computers, he says this is the first time that he ever had something like this happened to him.
Not really sure myself what he was taking about and I imagine that its over all you guys' head too (don't ask for details cause I don't know them). But, basically, we can use the DSL on those computers and the computers and server can see each other, but, cannot transfer any data between them. Thought, we have no data loss and we are only slowed down a small bit (lot of improvising in the meantime).
Nice thing about the computer guy is that he has not charged use yet for anything (because he hasn't fixed it yet) and I don't think that he's going to be for all his hours either, gotta love Midwestern work ethic.
Though, on a plus side, I did get an external HD case for the 300GB SATA that I had all my data on and everything is good on it. That, and my computer still works that I have been using for Open Canvas, even though its one of those crappy Dells that is having networking problems.
Also got a Photo printer too. Makes nice copies of my computer works that will last a little longer than the other printed ones. This also came in handy for use with the network problem (needed an extra printer because the network one only worked of the computer it was connected to)
All in all, a really busy last few days.
